Suspicious Check Has Cl Woman Mystified

Toni Schulte of Clear Lake got “manna from heaven” last week.

But she’s afraid it may not be the edible kind. In fact, she’s downright suspicious.

She received a check in the amount of $1,937 May 7 from the State of Minnesota Management of Budget office.

That’s interesting, she noted. She and her husband had done their taxes last month and were aware there would be no state refund.
So, what was this check for?

She told the Citizen-Tribune she had contacted the office whose phone was noted on the check and called an individual connected with the office.
“He said his name was Kade Millan and he sounded like he was not born in Minnesota,” Toni said.

“Then, came the offer that send chills up her spine.

“I can help you if you give me your social security account number,” the man said.

“I’m not giving out my social security account number,” she said.

She says she has contacted her family tax people and they said they had never heard of it before.

So, the next step Thursday was to make contact with Rep. Shane Mekeland of Clear Lake, at the state capitol.

More on this at a later date.
