Students Reap Rewards From Lpi Book Program

Becker Middle School students were presented with gift bags and prizes at an assembly in the school’s media center Tuesday afternoon at the culmination of the annual Environmental Book Challenge sponsored by Liberty Paper Inc. Representatives from the Becker facility were on hand to present the prizes the students earned for reading environmentally-themed books during the contest.

Media Specialist Holly Pringle hosted the event, with six representatives from LPI drawing names from a container to distribute the 40 gift bags.  They also presented gift cards to the six grand prize winners in the event.  An essay contest was also held in conjunction with the event, with the winners scheduled to be announced during a school field trip to the LPI facility on Mon., June 2.  A number of classes will also receive pizza parties with pies from the Pizza Depot in Becker as part of the contest winnings, Pringle said.

The top six prize winners were all sixth-graders, with Jonny Doherty taking top honors and a $100 Target® gift card, Austin Berning, $50 gift card, and Hunter Malisheski, Isabelle Swanson, Cayla Paumen and Nyah Kayser all receiving $25 gift cards.
