Strife at Santiago Township

The Santiago Twp. Board had their monthly meeting on Wed., June 11.

Police Report

The meeting started off with the police report where there were 64 calls for service. Among them were 20 traffic, seven security, and eight medical.

Road Report

The road report consisted of a concrete clean up at the park and a bid to micro seal the East end of 67th Street.

Building Report

The building report included an increase in pay to the caretaker of the hall. The pay was increased to $20 an hour and the motion was passed. Two motions for liquor licenses were passed. The licenses dealt with Bailey Rays and Boulder Creek Wine Bar. There was considerable opposition towards the Boulder Creek Wine Bar liquor license from neighbors who live on 41st Street. These people said they are tired of the traffic surrounding the wine bar and they believe that it should not reside in a residential area.

The board went on to pass the liquor license motion, but they recommended calling the police if there are noise complaints or CUP violations. The board’s motion is only a recommendation as the county is the ones who truly approve the license.

The meeting ended with paying the bills which passed.
