Becker 2016 graduate Grant Steffens graduated from the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) April 18 — 42 days early due to COVID-19.
Steffens will continue on to training to be a pilot after being commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. The commencement speaker at his graduation was V.P. Mike Pence and fighter jets zoomed over the ceremony at the precise time the grads flung their caps in the air.
Following academic opulence at BHS (NHS member, Robotics member) and reaching a pinnacle in sports with a state championship in football in 2015, Steffens joined the Air Force in June after graduation. He achieved immediate success in a powered flight program where he was honored to be one of two cadets to solo in the program. He also achieved the title of Remote Piloted Aircraft Instructor (RPA) and was flight commander of Squadron 4.
His studies in the Air Force garnered him a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geospatial Science.
Grant is the son of Angie, Karen and Jason Steffens and he has two sisters in Morgan and Abby Marshall.
