The Stearns History Museum will host the 6th annual At War & At Home: The World War II Experience living history weekend Saturday July 12 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday July 13 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. For the first time, this event is FREE for all!
Step back to the 1940s as the museum grounds come to life with reenactors, historic vehicles, home front displays, weapons demos, fashion, a military recruitment obstacle course for kids, and so much more. Test your WWII knowledge in their annual trivia contest at 1 p.m. Watch historic weapons demonstrations at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. See a working field kitchen and chat with reenactors representing allied forces in all theaters. See military vehicles including Jeeps, weapons carriers, and bulldozers. Chat with local author Gerry Feld about his historical fiction books. See WWII era models in the museum lobby. And stop by the temporary tattoo parlor outside to get some 1940s style ink!
This year, the theme for the event is women in WWII.
Lunch will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. each day with brats and hotdogs from St. Joseph Meat Market, buns from Cold Spring Bakery, pop and water from Bernick’s and bags of chips.
