BACK IN TIME. The Becker High School choirs went "Back to the 80's" fo their annual Spring Choir Show on May 19 with directors Gretchen Bordson and Kristi Lovold creating a program that included the greatest hits from stars like Billy Joel, Michael Jackson and Madonna, among many others.
TIME MACHINE. Director Gretchen Bordson thanked her cast after the 2014 Spring Choir Show on Mon., May 19. The production, titled "Back to the 80's", included covers of the greatest hits from Cindi Lauper, Whitney Houston, Billy Joel and many more, along with solo singers, choreography, costumes and "rad" guitars.

Spring Choir Show Goes “Back To The 80’s”

The Becker High School choirs went “Back to the 80’s” for their annual spring show last week, with directors Gretchen Bordson and Kristi Lovold going through their antique rock songbooks to produce eight special sections of music that reflected the “Best of the Era”.

The selections included “Chart Toppers”, including Madonna’s “Like A Prayer”, (solos from Abby Johnson and Kassidi Andres), a cover of the late Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” and The Bangles “Walk Like an Egyptian”.  The “Ballads” featured the largest single group on “Every Breath You Take” by The Police, with Abby Johnson, Alexandra Kimmerle, Alyssa Olson, Kassidi Andres, Sophie Pisco, Kate Berning, Jade Erson, Sydney Mastey, Aimee Schulz, Caitlin Roemer, Josh Drury, Aidan Christensen, Zach Woolhouse, Nick Langlais, Tanner Stewart, Matt Nelson and Dexter Woltman.
 
“Ladies Rock” included Katrina and the Waves “Walkin’ on Sunshine, (solo, Laura Niday), and Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me with Your Best Shot”, with solos from Kate Berning and Alexandra Kimmerle.  The next section included Billy Joel’s “The Longest Time”, featuring Aidan Christensen, Josh Drury, Tyler Kruse, Tanner Stewart, Matt Nelson, Andy Johnson, Joe Perry, Erik Tungland and Nick Langlais.
 
Other numbers included Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry, be Happy”, (Andy Johnson, Joe Perry), Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror”, (Sydney Gammon, Haley VanZee, Erin Fagin and Elizabeth Verwey) and the finale, “We Are the World” by Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie, (Rachel Tauer, Daisy Kent, Mikayla Hiltner, Adam DeVall, Zach Woolhouse, Miceala McGuire, Brianne Jelinek, Megan Graftaas, Collin McDowell, Mack Havlik, Hayden Fassler and Aidan Christensen.)
