The Becker Police Dept. received information  last Thursday that a credit card skimming device had been located by a customer at Speedway Gas Station in Becker. 

Investigators obtained the device from management and were able to confirm that the device was a card skimmer. 

Additional investigation indicated that the device was placed onto an in-store point of purchase credit card machine Jan. 28, two days before the discovery. 

BPD say there is no indication that the device was able to capture information from purchases made via the chip reader. The device can be quickly placed over the POP front and card information can then be accessed via the swiping motion. There is no way the device captured card info through the chip reader unit.

The police are asking that anyone who made a purchase at Speedway in Becker between Jan. 28-30 using the magnetic card swipe function, to monitor their card activity and report any fraudulent charges to their bank and to the Becker PD.
