Shrek Jr., The Musical coming to BMS

Come out for an evening of fairy tale fun as Becker’s Middle School student presents: Shrek Jr. The Musical!

The musical is a one-of-a-kind, hilarious legendary tale in which curses are reversed, monsters get the girls, donkeys and dragons find love, and princesses are beautiful in all shapes and sizes.

The cantankerous ogre, Shrek, lives alone in his swamp and the people of the nearby villages are fearful of the grumpy creature and his odd ways of living. He is regularly ridiculed and mocked but he appears content with living his life in isolation. However, his  peaceful lifestyle gets turned upside down when a group of homeless fairytale characters — Pinocchio, the Gingerbread Man, the Three Little Pigs, and more — burst upon his swamp, seeking refuge.

The characters were all banished from their kingdom by the evil Lord Farquaad. Determined to save their home, not to mention his, Shrek cuts a deal with Farquaad and sets out to rescue Princess Fiona to be Farquaad’s bride. Rescuing the Princess may be small compared to her deep, dark secret.

Music is by Jeanine Tesori and the book and lyrics are from David Lindsay-Abaire. The play is based on the Dreamworks Animation Motion Picture and the book by William Steig.

Tickets are $12 for adults or $10 for students, seniors and military. The musical will be performed at the Becker Performing Arts Center(Pac), 12000 Hancock St SE, Becker.

Shows are as follows:

• Friday, March 14   at 7 p.m.;
