The 100-yard shooting lane at the Del-Tone/Luth gun range in Haven Township was re-opened for use this week following a successful inspection by Haven Township authorities. Haven Township Chairman Jeff Schlingmann issued an order on behalf of the township on July 14 which rescinds a June 18 township order which called on the gun range to “immediately cease using the 100 yard bay, Bay 1” at the facility.
The order issued by Schlingmann this week includes the following: “On June 30, 2015, Mr. John Capron, an NRA (National Rifle Association) Range Team Technical Advisor, inspected Bay 1 and made recommendations to bring Bay 1 into compliance with the NRA Sourcebook, as required by Minnesota Statutes Chapter 87A.” It also states that: “On July 13, 2015, the undersigned, on behalf of Haven Township, inspected Bay 1 after you made the corrections recommended in the June 30, 2015 report.”
It concludes by saying: “Effective immediately, Haven Township’s June 18, 2015 Order is rescinded. You may reopen and use Bay 1, so long as it complies with the attached Report and Minnesota Statutes Chapter 87A.”
A copy of the most recent order was provided to “The Citizen” by Haven Township Attorney David Meyers, without comment. Copies were also provided to all Haven Township board members and Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott.
