TIM JEANETTA

Sherburne County Seargeant To Represent Minnesota In Special Olympics World Games

Investigative Sergeant Tim Jeanetta, who is a 23 year veteran of the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office  was chosen to represent the state of Minnesota in the 2017 Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg Team for the Special Olympics World Games, which will take place March 7-20, 2017, in Austria.

Sergeant Jeanetta will be running through many cities, towns, and communities throughout Austria, while carrying the Flame of Hope. Sergeant Jeanetta will conclude ten days of running by taking a polar plunge in Niederoblarn, Austria.

The law enforcement final leg team will not only be running for ten days, but also shouldering the relentless mission of spreading the Special Olympics movement to every corner of the earth and amplifying the excitement for the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games.

Sergeant Jeanetta started volunteering his time with the Special Olympics when he was asked to be an umpire for a Special Olympics softball Tournament in 1995. After that, he started coordinating the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run for Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office. Every year since, he would get the local law enforcement agencies together and run the “Flame of Hope” from the west Sherburne County border in St. Cloud to the east Sherburne County border in Ramsey, Minnesota.

Also over the years, Sergeant Jeanetta has volunteered for several different fund raising efforts for the Special Olympics, such as Tip-a-Cop, Polar Plunges, and Cop-on-Top where Jeanetta sat on top of the Rainbow Foods store in Plymouth in a tent for a weekend to raise money for the Special Olympics.

In June of 2016, Jeanetta received a call from a board member of the Minnesota Special Olympics asking if he would be willing to represent the state of Minnesota in the Austrian world games. Sergeant Jeanetta was told it would be completely paid for and he would be gone for approximately two weeks. After getting the full support from Sheriff Joel Brott and the Sherburne County Board of Commissioners, it was decided that he would go on this once in a lifetime volunteer opportunity.

Sergeant Jeanetta has set up a website for anyone who like to donate to the Special Olympics. For more information about the 2017 Special Olympic Winter WorldGames, please visit: http://specialolympicsinc.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive....
