Effective Dec. 1, Officer Heather Hoglund was promoted to Sergeant, California Highway Patrol as part of the Southern Division Community Engagement and Recruitment Team (CERT) in Los Angeles.
Hoglund spent her teen years in Becker and graduated from Becker High School in 1984. She attended the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis) and graduated in 1988 majoring in speech communication. Hoglund subsequently worked in the insurance/risk management field for several years at Travelers Insurance, Target Corporation, and Crusader Insurance in California.
Restless to move on, and after seeing a newspaper article about the California Highway Patrol, Hoglund decided to give it a try. After passing five different exams, she was invited to attend the Academy in West Sacramento beginning Dec. 9, 2002.
Upon successful completion of the 27 week Academy, Officer Hoglund served at offices in San Jose, Central Los Angeles, Glendale and West Valley. In her new position as sergeant, she will be serving in Southern Division which encompasses 10 area offices, a commercial inspection facility, and a communication center in Los Angeles County.
Heather is the daughter of Mary and Mike Gillham and Ron and Katie Hoglund.
