The Becker Primary School held a second grade concert Thursday afternoon that featured songs from the Wonderful World of Disney.
Dozens of youngsters piled onto the stage in the Primary School gymnasium and waved to their parents, grandparents and relatives as Music Teacher Erika Bakke got the show underway.
And what better way to start a Disney production than to start with a song honoring the institution’s most beloved character — Mickey Mouse?
Eleven students jumped down to the front of the staging area and were handed placards to use in the song, Mickey Mouse Mash-Up, arranged by John Higgins. As the song came to the chorus, the 11 children hoisted their signs high above their heads to form the words, Mickey Mouse as they chanted his name.
The second number was called, You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly! from Peter Pan and was choreographed by Courtney Backes. It featured students waving colorful scarves in the air and tossing them back-and-forth to their partners as the song played.
The third song of the day was called, The Bare Necessities and was based on the story from the Jungle Book. That was followed by a song from The Little Mermaid called Under The Sea.
Under the blanket of darkness after all the lights were extinguished for the fifth song, dozens of students held LED candles while they sang the song, Candle On The Water.
The final three songs of the concert were Circle of Life from The Lion King, You’ve Got A Friend In Me from Toy Story and It’s A Small World from the Disney Theme Parks.
