Santiago Twp. conducted their monthly meeting on Wed., May 14.
Sheriff’s Report
The meeting started with the sheriff’s report which included 69 calls for service. Twenty-two of those were traffic stops, 11 were security checks, and three were medical.
Road Report
Next up was the road report. It was decided that instead of doing all the road projects in one year, they would do only certain roads, culverts, and cul de sacs. They would save the rest of the projects for the following years.
Not too much from zoning, more to come in later meetings about solar fields and a marajana field in Zimmerman.
Fire Report
Equipment checks were done by the fire and rescue. Everything seems to be looking good.
Park Report
The park report stated that the new swing set is completed. They had a skid loader clean up the parking lot and the ball fields.
Building Report
The building report included a rental and a carpet cleaning. There was an amendment to resolution #2021-7 ‘a resolution designating a caraway’ which was motioned and approved. There was more discussion on the Cedar Creek energy solar farms. They came in asking for variance for tree screening around the solar field. Even with the board’s disapproval they plan on proceeding with the solar field. The board tabled the variance request until they hear back from the county attorney on the issue.
Other Issues
There was a complaint from a resident that lives on 59th Street that was brought to the board. They stated that the cars coming into the church driveway too fast and kick up lots of dirt. Solutions to the dust problem included wetting it down or possibly adding magnesium chloride to the road. No definite solution was made, but the problem will be looked into more thoroughly. The meeting ended with the bills being passed.
