Santa Claus stopped by the monthly Young at Heart event Thursday, bringing treats and presents for all.

 

Along with card playing and lunch, attendees at this month’s event also enjoyed a Christmas carol sing-a-long and ugly sweater contest. The winner of the men’s division, hands down, was Pastor Steve Timm, and the winner in the women’s division was Sara Miller. Both were decked out head to toe in holiday “finery.”

 

Santa handed out candy canes and bags with oranges and hand-knitted pocket prayer cloths. There were also door prizes for lucky winners.

 

Next month, the fire chief and postmaster will be at the Young at Heart event to talk about a number of safety issues.

 

Young at Heart meets at Rejoice Lutheran Church in Clearwater on the third Thursday of each month, with card playing beginning at 10:30 and lunch at noon, followed by a program. The group is non-denominational, and all area seniors are encouraged to attend.
