Santa comes to Clearwater

Clearwater was the site of a number of holiday happenings last weekend, including the Clearwater Legion Auxiliary’s annual Kids’ Christmas Party.

Excited kids packed the Legion, some in their holiday best, eager to meet Santa Claus and participate in the activities. The fun included a variety of make your own ornament stations, a ‘write a letter to Santa’ station, a picture frame station, and a snowman measuring stick kids could make to measure how much snow they get.

Decorating a sugar cookie was one of the most popular activities, with kids spreading frosting and then heaping their cookies up with every sprinkle and candy within arm’s reach before eating them.

The highlight of the party was, of course, Santa Claus himself. There were a few tears and a lot of smiles as kids lined up to meet Santa, tell him their Christmas wishes, and get a goody bag and picture with him.

This year Santa had extra helpers during the event. Along with auxiliary members, the Grinch was a surprise guest and three elves were seen wandering around.
