The regular meeting of the Palmer Township Board took place Monday at township hall, with all supervisors present.
New Business
Deb Skwarek of 4565 109th Ave. appeared before the board to ask about what could be done to prevent water from coming into her driveway and garage.
The township board said the township has done many things to try and help with runoff from heavy rains including putting in dry wells and small rock along the roadway. Unfortunately, the Skwarek garage was placed very close to the road and it is downhill from the roadway and water always will run downhill.
Supervisor Demeules suggested that maybe Sherburne Soil and Water would have some additional ideas for her to divert the water on her property to prevent the water from running to the lake.
The supervisors also agreed to visit the site for further evaluation.
Road Report
It was reported there were lots of trees down and brush on the roadway and downed power lines after the recent, big rainstorm. Township employees will be working in the right of way and on the road only.
Residents are encouraged to take their brush to the Becker compost site.
Park Report
The Republic bill for P.E.C. came in higher than expected and Roger Johnson said he called about the additional charges. He found out the charges were for the larger tires and the tires with rims. Johnson asked for a new bill to be sent with the charges listed.
Mitch Hoefer reported that the park had trees down and some branches scattered around. He also said he has repaired some sprinkler heads. He also said the new playground equipment is in and getting lots of use.
Clint Schendzielos said the sign is not quite ready for the playground area. Hoefer talked to Briggs Lake Nursery about replacement trees for the park. He also noted trees are on sale in the fall and he is looking at starting to replace some of the trees that have been removed due to disease.
Fire Dept. Report
Craig Miller of the fire department gave the fire report for the last 28 days. There were 22 calls, with 10 were in Palmer. There were seven medicals, one accident and two fires.
Miller said the new grass truck should arrive this month and will be housed in Station 2 when complete.
