A short meeting took place Monday evening at Becker Township Hall with most of the supervisors’ labor directed to road discussion.
Road Report
Road work for the township will be beginning soon, though the supervisors and clerk don't have exact dates yet. Engineer Terrance VanderEyk said things will probably move very quickly once they get started.
Oak Crest Estates and 102nd St. are scheduled for reclaim and surfacing this summer. New township standard mail box supports will be installed in certain locations and Eyk will keep the post office notified as far as when the work will occur and what will be happening. The box supports are in the budget that was approved at last year's annual meeting).
Buck Lake Estates, Hillside Hideaway, Woodberry Farms, 109th Street, 87th Street and 182nd Avenue are scheduled for seal coating this summer.
The annual spring road tour is scheduled for today (Saturday).
A special board meeting has been called for today (Saturday) at 7 a.m. to approve a few road contracts that require further details before they can be approved.
Other News
• The Becker Community Center asked to use the Town Hall for Freedom Days again this year;
• The annual Becker City/Twp. Clean-Up Day is scheduled for May 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• The sheriff's office mentioned a reminder about shooting guns. In the township, people are allowed to fire their weapons on their own property as long as they are shooting in a safe manner. Also, the DNR has burn restrictions in effect right now;
• Residents are encouraged to check the township website (www.beckertownship.org) for the latest updates and can also call the clerk at 763-261-5301 or email at clerk@beckertownship.org for current information. The township also offers residents the opportunity to subscribe to email updates just by emailing the clerk. They will receive an email each time the website is updated.
