Ribbon cutting ceremony well attended

A slow, drizzling rain did not dampen the spirits of the many people who attended the ribbon cutting ceremony of the newly opened Kwik Trip in Becker, MN on Thurs., Aug. 1, 2024.

Mayor Tracy Bertram, Council Members Rick Hendrickson, Robin Dingmann, Mike Doering, and Rebecca Olmschied were present as were members of the Becker Chamber of Commerce.  Police Chief Brent Baloun and Assistant Fire Chief Tom Wark and many Kwik Trip employees were inside the store to hear from some of the people who made the day happen.

Speakers

Jerome Haberman, District Leader, kicked off the ribbon cutting by announcing that Becker’s Kwik Trip was the 875th Kwik Trip location.  He then turned his attention to the employees who gathered around him to recite the Mission Statement of Kwik Trip.  After, he said, “Our mission is what we strive for each and every day.”

Haberman then introduced Kwik Trip Owner and CEO Scott Zietlow, who was accompanied by his wife Jill.  Zietlow began by thanking each “co-worker” for the work they did to help get the store ready to open.  He said, “You are our most important and valuable asset.  Without you, we won’t be successful.”

Zietlow then summed up how Kwik Trip affects the communities in which they serve.

“Our goal is to provide a clean safe environment and location where you can purchase fresh products at a value with outstanding guest service.  In addition, we strive to be good neighbors and give back to the communities that we serve.”

Zietlow explained that 40 percent of pre-tax profits are shared with employees, a number unmatched by other companies.

Alex Kanable, store leader, thanked a number of co-workers, some of whom addressed the crowd.  Mayor Tracy Bertram and Becker Chamber of Commerce Director of Operations Amy Stanger were thanked for their contributions and gave brief remarks before handing the microphone over to Miss Minnesota Emily Schumacher.   Kwik Trip is a proud sponsor of the Miss Minnesota program.

Donations

Baloun and Wark both accepted $1,000 donations.  Haberman explained that Kwik Trip looks for organizations that make a difference in their community to partner with.  Both Baloun and Wark expressed their excitement that Kwik Trip was now in Becker.  They both were happy to have another late night food option for officers and fire fighters.

Ribbon Cutting

The ceremony wrapped up as members of the Kwik Trip Team joined Kanable as he cut the ribbon and then members of the Becker Chamber of Commerce took their turn.
