Saturday evening, folks gathered at Carousell Works in Big Lake to enjoy history, beer, wine, hors d’oeuvres and fantastic raffle prizes, while supporting the Sherburne History Center.
The event began at 7 p.m. and featured live music by the talented Minnesota Bluegrass Band. The theme for the event is new each year and Saturday event-goers were treated to “Rhythmn and Brews.”
The first 50 guests who purchased tickets received a free wine glass, engraved with the Sherburne History Center logo. The beverages were flowing as folks were treated to a variety of endless craft beers and wines.
Guests mingled and enjoyed the music before the raffle began. An ancestry DNA kit, golfing package, gift baskets and guided fishing tour, were just some of the amazing prizes that were raffled. The grand prize was a very nice outdoor glider wooden bench, which was donated along with all the prizes!
Phillis Steckelberg provided a beautiful quilt for the raffle. When asked how long it took her to complete the quilt she replied “not that long.”
Phillis is part of the Heart and Hands Quilters Guild in Becker and said they are always looking for new members who love to quilt. They meet at the Becker Baptist Church, the second Monday at 7 p.m. and all are welcomed!
The raffle wasn’t the only way to win a prize; they had a cash can and pick a cork. For $10 event-goers could pick the cork of their choice. After picking a cork, guests won the prize which corresponded to their number.
They had a high number of ticket sales as 77 people came to enjoy a fun evening, while supporting a great cause! “We were very fortunate with all of the donations and how generous people were,” said Sherburne History Center Executive Director Mike Brubaker.
