Rejoice Lutheran Church in Clearwater is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year.
As part of its celebration, the church is hosting an evening of musical entertainment Thursday, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. featuring Friends in Harmony.
The 12-member group performs doo-wop and rock ‘n roll music from the 50s and 60s.
The seed for Rejoice was planted in November of 1985, but it wasn’t until March of 1987 that the first worship service was held.
In the early years, Rejoice worshipped at Clearview Elementary. The move to its current location took place March 10, 1991. Since that time, Rejoice has added on twice - an education wing in 1996 and a new sanctuary and kitchen in 2006.
Next Thursday’s concert is a back-to-school fundraiser. Visitors who attend the concert are encouraged to bring school supplies or a cash donation to help the cause.
The celebration continues Sun., Aug. 6, with a worship service at 9:30 a.m. followed by a potluck dinner from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
