Ready For School? Middle School

School starts Sept. 4 and hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. Classes are held 8:10 a.m. to 2:55 p.m. (It is not necessary for students to arrive before 8 a.m.

Chantel Boyer is the principal and  Ted Aleckson is the assistant principal.

Consult district calendar for information regarding holidays, early dismissals, events, and other days when school will not be in session.

A school supply list can be found on the district website or can be picked up at the middle school main office.

Lockers will be assigned at the open house Tues., Sept. 3. Students may bring school supplies at that time or on the first day of regular classes, Wed. Sept. 4.

Families in need of assistance with school supplies should contact middle school counselor, Mrs. Fox.

Tues, Sept. 3 is picture day! Lifetouch school picture information is available on the school website. Purchasing pictures is not required, however, all students need to have a picture taken for students IDs and yearbook. Retakes will be offered in early October.

If a student is absent or is going to be absent from school for any reason, parents/guardians are expected to contact the middle school office at (763) 261-6333 and follow the prompts on the attendance line. Following an absence from school, students must report to the main office before school begins to obtain a pass to class.

The breakfast cart is available for all middle schoolers between the hours of 7:30 - 8 a.m.

Lunch and breakfast menus and prices can be found on the district website and outside the school kitchen. Parents/Guardians are issued passwords for online access to lunch accounts.

 Middle school students will have regular lunch choices daily and an ala carte line. The cost for ala carte items is deducted from the family lunch account and can be tracked through the Skyward portal. Students may only purchase ala carte if there are funds in the family accounts. In order to prevent misunderstanding, it is recommended that families discuss purchasing and other school related items prior to the first day of school.

Applications for free/reduced lunch can be found in school offices or on the district website and will also be available at open house. A new application is required each year.

Forms pertaining to the sixth-eighth grade, 1:1 iPad program is available on the district website. Parents/ guardians and students are encouraged to become familiar with this information, complete and submit registration as soon as possible. Assistance with this process will be available at the open house Sept. 3, however completing the process beforehand will prevent waiting for assistance. Families are asked to sign the iPad contract/expectations and pay online only.

For activities, contact the activities office at (763) 261-4501 ext. 3138 for information about seventh and  eighth grade extracurricular activities. Students must have a physical examination by qualified medical personnel and turn in the necessary forms/evidence to the activities office before starting practice. The physical examination is required every three years. Fee information and eligibility requirements pertaining to grades and behavior can be found in the activities handbook on the district’s website.

BMS physical education t-shirts and shorts will be available for purchase at the open house in the middle school commons areas. All students in grades 6-8 will be expected to wear a uniform for PE class.

During the regular school day all visitors will need to enter the building through the front doors of the building, check in at the main office with an ID and obtain a visitor badge. All entrances remain locked during the school day. If a parent or guest would like to meet with a teacher, it is best to contact the teacher in advance by email or phone to schedule an appointment. The office staff will notify the teacher of all visi-tors/guests.

During inclement weather, information about school closings and delays can be found on the district website, through local media sources, and through automated phone calls and emails to numbers and addresses on record.

A calendar of events such as concerts, conferences, early dismissals, etc. can be accessed on the district website. Notifications of changes will be made available through the website and automated communication system. It is very important that the school has current and accurate family contact information.

Monday, Sept. 23, the middle school will be have an orientation night from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Students and parents/guardians will be provided additional information on middle school life. Parents/guardians will have the opportunity to select a half hour time slot when they attend the open house. Information that will be provided on orientation night includes, but not limited to: Google Classroom, Skyward grading access, etc.
