In a 20-minute meeting, the Santiago Town Board conducted business minus Chairman Stuart Nelson.
Jeff Pappenfus sat in as chairman and conducted the meeting.
Road Report
Dave Jehoich said the board recently partook in a road review. All issues noted have been submitted for future consideration. Jehoich also said the seal coating project has been completed. He also noted a complaint came in earlier in the week about a hole not seen during the road tour on 7th Street. Jehoich said he would have the situation looked into.
Fire and Rescue Report
Matt Weber of the fire department said Santiago Twp. had three calls for service in September. He also told the board the computer hard drive for the computer used at the station “went bad” and they needed to purchase and install a new one. The cost for the new hard drive came in around $170.
Building Report
Weber said he has a few concerns about areas around the parking lot of the town hall building where the asphalt meets the concrete. Weber said a gap has appeared in several places and he asked the board if they’d like to fix the situation — the sooner the better with colder weather approaching.
Jehoich suggested they just have the entire parking lot crack sealed and the board and Weber agreed. Jehoich said he would get in contact with Jeff Rhodes to see when he is available to handle it.
Weber also said the carpets in the building need to be cleaned and he asked the board if he should pursue a local company or business to get the job done. The board members approved that action.
Weber finished his report by mentioning he had fixed the vanity in the men’s room that showed somehow the vanity was pulled away from the wall slightly.
Sheriff’s Report
Deputy Kyle Wilson of the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Dept. said there were 70 calls for service in Santiago for the month of September, of which 29 were traffic stops.
He told the board there were no other issues or concerns he had at this time.
A member from the audience asked the deputy to have someone look into a situation where a blue four-wheeler was tearing up the road on 67th Street. Wilson said he would look into it.
