Becker Police Dept. is warning the public about a rash of vehicle thefts and vandalism in the Becker area southeast of St. Cloud.
Officers with the BPD say they’ve had numerous reports of property being stolen from vehicles and damage done to vehicles parked in driveways. All these reports happened during the night.
Police are urging residents to keep their cars locked and remove any valuables. Chief Brent Baloun said his department is working diligently to locate those involved and to locate any property that has been stolen. He issued the following announcement to help aid his department:
• If a vehicle needs to be parked outside, please ensure that it is locked. Ensure that all valuables in the vehicle are removed so they are not in plain view;
• If one stores things in the back of a truck, the BPD would recommend taking equipment out, if possible, and storing it in a safe place each night;
• If one owns a truck with a rear bed cover, consider rolling it up each night;
• Never leave valuables outside of any kind, store them inside each night or in a safe location;
• Ensure that one’s garage is closed and locked to ensure entry isn't gained into ones vehicles or residence;
• Speak with ones neighbors about suspicious activity of things going on in ones neighborhood. If one sees something, say something;
• Be diligent about watching and observing who is out and about around ones residence, ones street, and ones neighborhood;
• Call the police department if one sees something or hears of something that isn't right in ones neighborhood;
• Call 911 if one sees something happening!
Baloun asks those with questions to please contact the Becker Police Department at 763-200-4267. If one has a tip, one can remain anonymous.
