The Becker City Council will take public comments on a request to grant tax abatement to construct one or more data center facilities, approximately 375,000 sq. ft. in size, located on the following parcels in Becker, MN:  05-202-1201; 05-335-2100; 05-335-2301; 05-335-3100; 05-335-3200; 05-335-3205 and 05-335-3400. Legal descriptions for these parcels are available in the office of the City Administrator.
The request is to abate the property taxes resulting from increases in market value or tax capacity due to improvement of the property.  The total abatement period to be considered will not exceed 20 years.  The total estimated amount of the City tax abatement based on one facility being constructed is $313,000 per year, or approximately $6,260,000 over a 20 year period.  If additional facilities are constructed, the estimated amount of the abatement would increase due to the increase in value from additional improvements.  If a second facility is constructed, the total estimated amount of the abatement would be $540,000 per year following completion, for the remaining portion of the 20 year abatement term.  If a third facility is constructed, the total estimated amount of the abatement would be $740,000 per year following completion, for the remaining portion of the 20 year abatement term.
A copy of the proposed terms will be available at the City of Becker City Hall in the City Administrator’s Office.  All interested persons are encouraged to attend and comment.
