Public Input Sought For Supt. Search

With the retirement of Supt. Stephen Malone approaching at school year’s end, the Becker School Board is in the process of seeking his replacement and is looking for input from the community, from parents, staff and students.

The school board has  developed a brief survey to gather feedback on what they need in a new leader and to identify what people think the new superintendent should focus on during the first couple of years.

The survey can be found at www.surveymonkey.com/r/BeckerSupt.

In mid-January, the board will convene groups of staff, administrative, and citizen stakeholders to discuss the search and to identify the characteristics they should seek in the new leader.

By early February, they will begin to sort through applications for the position. Interviews are scheduled for mid-February and the board will include representatives from these stakeholder groups as well as the survey data in the interview process.

It is their hope to have identified and hired the new superintendent by late February. He/she will begin duties on or about July 1.
