On April 28, 2025, at approximately 11:13 p.m., Big Lake Officers were dispatched to a report of a car that crashed into a light pole. Officers arrived on scene and observed a dark colored vehicle in the ditch north of Hiawatha with the airbags deployed. Two occupants were outside of the vehicle. Fortunately, neither were seriously injured.
The driver admitted smoking marijuana and consuming alcohol before driving. Standard Field Sobriety Tests were conducted on the driver who did poorly during the evaluation. The preliminary BAC of the driver indicated .17%.
Without a doubt, the driver had made a poor decision to get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol and smoking marijuana. The driver put themselves and others at substantial risk. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured to include other motorists out on the roads.
This is one example of how getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol can change your life and others lives forever.
Drive Sober! It is NOT worth it!
