Ethan Luethmers and Jacob Lemperes. Students learned about balance, collaboration, and persistence during a structure building challenge with teacher Jennifer Croal.
Kennedy Drayna and Alayna Lindquist looked at sample specimens and observed them with their eye, then looked under the microscope to see the specimen magnified and how different it looked.
Teacher Anna Borchardt and students Devon Hoffman and Jackson Campbell used a sand and gravel filtration system to clean water filled with dirt, litter and other natural materials.
Jaleahya Penn built a mouse trap car under the direction of Becker Robotics team CIS 4607 to understand what force was needed to make the car move.

Primary School Kids Spend A Day With Steam

The Becker Primary School hosted STEAM day last Friday morning.

The day was focused on student creativity in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math.

Donations for materials were received from Liberty Paper and the Becker PTSA in order to make the fun and interactive day of activities, experiments, performances, and games possible.

Some of the students used a sand and gravel filtration system to clean water filled with dirt, litter and other natural materials.

Other students learned about balance, collaboration and persistence during a structure building challenge with teacher Jennifer Croal.

Teachers Cindy Welinski and Nathan Bucher posed the question, “what is the difference between seeing with our eye and seeing under a microscope?” Students would look at a sample specimen and observe with their eye then look under the microscope and see the specimen magnified and how different it looked.

More students used their ingenuity to build mouse trap cars under the direction of Becker Robotics team CIS 4607 to understand what force was needed to make the car move.

All-in-all, the STEAM day the primary school was a surplus of success.
