Primary Election Set For Tuesday

Primaries can also be used in nonpartisan races to reduce the set of candidates that go on to the general election.

The state gubernatorial seat to be contested is currently held by Democrat Mark Dayton. Dayton was sworn in on Jan. 3, 2011 and is serving his first term in office.  He is eligible for re-election in 2014 and has declared his candidacy.
