Road Report

Twp. Engineer Terrance Vander Eyk presented the board with road projects projected for the next few years. Possible 2024 seal coat projects include portions of 100th Ave., 67th Street, and 70th Street. Half of 67th Street is Palmer Twp.’s; they will be asked if they would like to do their portion at the same time.

Projected 2024 projects include 74th Street from Co. Hwy 8 to 41st Ave. Long Lake Lane and 71st Street bituminous surfacing. White Farm Estates, which has been discussed for a number of years, is potentially listed for 2025.

Other projects to consider include a variety of work on 90th Street, 95th Ave., 92nd Street, 90th Ave., and River Oaks.

The board will provide Eyk with direction at their November meeting.

A motion carried approving partial payment for the 97th Street project. The LRIP grant awarded for the project was $237,500; the township’s portion of the cost came to $44,704, much lower than the township had originally set aside for it.

A final partial payment of $1,703 to Granite City Paving was approved for the parking lot at the township hall.

Other Business

A motion carried to donate $4,000 of the township’s ARPA money to the Clearwater/Clear Lake Area Food Shelf. The money will be used for the future new building and items needed to furnish it.

Chairman Bud Stimmler informed the board the township had received a message from a resident asking how many animals they could have on their property. As neither the township nor county have ordinances concerning the issue, he advised the resident to check with neighbors to see what they would be okay with.

The township also received a message from a resident who was told he couldn’t fire his gun on his property. Neither the township nor the county have ordinances against doing so, and according to the sheriff’s office it’s legal when safely shooting at a target.

Stimmler told the board the new township park swing set was up and being used.

During the most recent fire board meeting, it was revealed the fire department have had a lot more calls involving fatalities.

The sheriff reported 109 calls for service, including 47 traffic stops, 10 medical and one DWI.

The next Clear Lake Twp. meeting was November 21 aand look for an article in a future issue of the Patriot.
