As of last year, the road repair budget amounted to $170,000 dollars. This year, a motion was carried to increase the repair amount to 180,000 dollars.

In 2022, the roads were fixed by crack sealing. However, with this new budget, MicroSeal can now be added to the roads in order to fix the cracks. The MicroSeal bonds to the cracks in the road and is guaranteed to last 10 years, which will save Santiago money in the long run. They also are planning to tar 67th Street using money from the repair fund.

At the end of the night, a debate broke out as to whether or not the retirement fund for volunteer firefighters should be increased. The current retirement fund consists of $1,500 dollars.

This new increase would bump up that fund to a total of $2,000 dollars. It was decided that the $2k dollars would be taken out of the fire fund, which totals $86,000 dollars, and will be considered a contribution in place of a donation. Also on April 27, there will be a town clean up day with volunteers welcome.
