Paltry Agenda Equals Quick Meeting

Becker City Council met Tuesday where Mayor Tracy Bertram read aloud a declaration making July 19 as LDI/LPI day in Becker. The idea was to endorse  the company for their 100 years of caring, innovation, trust and excellence and recognize their contribution to the local area.
 
Council Member Lori Keller was absent.
 
LPI/LDI  100 Years
 
In honor of LPI/LDI’s 100 year anniversary this year, Mayor Tracy Bertram read aloud a declaration proclaiming July 19 as LDI/LPI day in Becker.
 
Liberty Paper, Inc. (LPI), located in Becker, is a high technology driven paper mill that recycles old corrugated containers (OCC) into Kraft liner board for new corrugated packaging. This 100% recycled paper mill is as committed to the environment as they are to product innovation.
 
Liberty Paper, Inc. joined the Liberty Diversified International family in 1995.  The mill manufacturers recycled paper from more than 200,000 tons of old corrugated containers each year.
 
CUP for Angell’s
 
Community Development Director Marie Pflipsen presented an amended CUP for Angell’s Construction.
 
Pflipsen said the community development department received an application from Angeli's Construction to amend the current CUP for their property located at 14195 Bank St. in Becker. 
 
The proposed amendment is to allow the storage of trailers and display of equipment for rental from their new business addition of All-Purpose Rentals. 
 
The planning commission conducted a public hearing June 25 concerning the proposed amendments and there was no opposition to the proposed changes voiced at the hearing. 
 
Closed Session
 
The city council meeting adjourned to a closed meeting to discuss the asking price for real or personal property and review the appraisal and counter offers.
 
Consent Agenda
 
CA Greg Pruszinske explained the hiring and termination reports for the streets department, the BCC and Pebble Creek. He also asked council to adopt Resolution 18-47, accepting donations from entities for Freedom Days, Harvest Fest and Jingle Jam.
 
With the pending retirement of the city’s deputy clerk, Pruszinske asked council to approve a job description of Admin Support Specialist/Deputy Clerk for a future hire.
