During their meeting Monday night, Palmer Twp. Supervisor Steve Demeules informed the board the Lake Association is planning an Ice Day on Feb. 2 on Lake Julia.
He also advised the public to be aware there is open water on Briggs Lake.
113th Ave.
A discussion was held between residents and the board on what’s being done about 113th Ave. On Nov. 4 Dennis Lietha, who owns land along the minimum maintenance road, disked over it with a tractor.
A report on the destruction was made to Sherburne Co. by the township and looked into by a deputy.
The board discussed whether destruction of public property charges would be made; the township has costs they’re incurred to survey and fix the road that will most likely be charged back to Lietha.
The board determined they would ask the Township Association to be assigned an attorney.
The matter will stay on the township’s agenda through the annual meeting so residents will be able to get updates on the case.
Variance Request
Ryan Lamberg approached the board to request a setback variance to construct a pole shed on his 40-acre 17th Street property.
He explained he had misunderstood the regulations and thought the setback was 25’; he discovered it was 50’ when he submitted the building permit. He’s already had the pad dug and prepared for the shed.
Supervisor Steve Demeules, who is on the planning commission, stated he had issues with the request because Lamberg has plenty of land to move the structure elsewhere.
“We have to be able to prove the hardship,” said Supervisor Mike Ganz.
A discussion was held between Lamberg and the board on how and where the structure could be moved to on the property.
The board determined they would not be sending positive comments on to the county concerning the issue. They recommended Lamberg withdraw the request to see if he can get some of this money returned.
