Roadwork on 48th st., resolution of several legal matters and a request for positive comment on a residential construction project were among the items discussed at the regular meeting of the Palmer Township Board Monday night.
Chairman Mike Ganz told the board that the final easement document for the 48th st. road project has been signed by the landowner, as anticipated, and work on shoulders and ditches in the project area has begun. Resurfacing of the roadway will take place next spring.
The board also learned pending legal matters involving the Westby cartway decision and a subsequent suit brought in the matter have been settled, according to township attorney David Meyers. Any special meetings regarding the Perkins property, which are unrelated to the other proceedings, will require a deposit of $1,000 with Palmer Township before any meetings are scheduled.
A request for positive comment on a plan to construct a personal storage structure in the Shoreland District of Cedar Point was approved unanimously after a short discussion.
New Briggs lake Chain Association (BLCA) President Wayne Smith made his first formal report to the board at the Monday meeting. Smith advised the board that the association has engaged a lake consultant to advise them on the best procedures for clearing weeds and cattails on a section of Briggs Lake, which may require the services of divers to complete the removal.
Smith, a resident of Big Elk Lake, had served as the vice-president of the BLCA before assuming his new office.
