Orrock Twp. endorses home business permit

During the beginning of the meeting for March 27, Bryan Adams requested that an additional item be added to the regular business. Adams brought up his thought on having too much on the consent agenda and being able to remove some items for future meetings.

Salon Business

Clerk Chris Weber started the regular business. Weber shared with the board an application for an IUP for Home Business in Accessory Building- Salon. Zach and Crysta Kurth requested to have comments from the board to be able to move forward with the county. The salon will be appointment based, two to three days a week. The board recommended positive comments.

Ordinance

The next item was for Sherburne County Draft Floodplain Ordinance. Gary Goldsmith made the comment that he respected whatever the county decided to do. The board agreed and decided to move forward with the positive comment of respecting authority decisions.

Election

Weber requested that the board allow her to purchase adjustable height tables for additional election booths. The board approved and offered $1000 to help with the cost for four of the tables currently priced at $225 a table.

Road Tour

The Orrock spring Road Tour will be held Wednesday April 17 at 9 a.m. before the SCAT meeting being held later in the evening.

Videos of Meetings

Gregg Felber requested during the annual meeting that the board consider posting videos of the meetings on the Orrock Twp. website. Anne Felber brought to the board’s attention that she has been approached in public multiple times and asked about whether Orrock Twp. could make it easier for residents who cannot attend meetings. Felber was adamant about listening to the community, going as far as to say, “the citizens deserve this,”. The rest of the board, however, did not agree.

Bob Hassett and Goldsmith both inquired about the people coming up to Felber and asked if she could redirect these people to Clerk Weber. The board, minus Felber, agreed that there is not enough interest in the meetings online for them to consider trying to get cameras set up. The motion to have recorded meetings was denied by the majority of the board.
