Old Town Hall Property Rezoned At Clear Lake Council Meeting

 
A public hearing for the rezoning of the Clear Lake Twp. hall property on Main Street was held before the beginning of the Clear Lake City Council meeting Monday night. Currently zoned institutional, the sale of the property is contingent upon it being rezoned to B1 central business district.
 
With no public comment, the hearing was closed and the regular council meeting opened.
 
Black Topping
 
Eddie Timmers from Eddie’s Auto Repair approached the board to discuss the 10’ gap between his property line and the street. He explained he would like to pave or concrete the area, and inquired if he or the city was responsible for it.
 
The area is part of the city’s right-of-way; the council indicated they would work with him on the improvement.
 
Other Business
 
In June, the council will be rezoning the new city property on which the new well will be located to residential. At that time specs and plans for the well project will be reviewed.
 
A brief discussion was held on the annexation with Clear Lake Twp.; a joint meeting with the township to review the agreement will be scheduled for the near future.
 
A motion carried approving O’ Brothers Wine and Spirits tobacco license.
 
A motion carried approving 2019 liquor licenses.
 
To date the city has only received two applications for the seasonal public works employee position; the deadline to apply is May 10.
 
Clerk Kari Mechtel presented the council with the new city logo designed by Julie Mehr. Council members suggested a few changes; the revised logo will be presented again at the June meeting.
 
The sheriff reported 31 calls for service for April, including four items stolen out of unlocked vehicles. The public is reminded to always lock their vehicles, even when parked on private property.
 
The next Clear Lake City Council meeting is June 3 at 7 p.m.
