Becker High School held its 2019 Junior-Senior Prom and Grand March last Saturday.
The Grand March took place in the high school gym, while the prom dinner and dance took place at U.S. Bank Stadium in Downtown Minneapolis.
This year's junior-senior prom theme was appropriately titled "Night of Wonders."
Two-hundred and eighty-four high school students got all dolled up Saturday in tuxes, suits, gowns and jewelry and spent time before and after the event posing for photos.
The school’s prom committee members did a superb job of decorating the gymnasium to add to the glitz and glamour. Zig-zagging through the main floor was a lighted path leading to small platforms the couples could stop and pose for photos on beneath a glaring spotlight.
The couples entered the arena on a elevated platform. Assistant Principal Brian Baloun introduced the duos, signalling the lead couples to move up one platform space to accommodate the followers.
Many of the young ladies sported colorful dresses and floral patterns that were accentuated by their corsages, necklaces, tiaras and sashes.
The young men were donning new suits and tuxedos and some sported hats and casual shoes. Moms and dads pulled at their children to pose for photos alone and with siblings until an announcement signaled the students to gather in the hallway for the Grand March at around 4 p.m.
Excited parents, grandparents, friends and family members packed into the gymnasium starting around 3 p.m. to get a seat front and center to show their support for their loved ones.
After the march, the students and family gathered in the commons area to chat, take photographs and soon move towards the caravan of busses set to take the students to the home of the Vikings for the evening’s festivities.
Prom attendants were: Kailey Peterson, Hannah Uecker, Makenna Thelen, Cade Stommes, Sarah Warren, Skylar Kipka, Grace Wraspir and Madison Doherty.
Prom committee members were: Alana Berger, Grace Tillman, Tina Gruber, Bella Pettit, Elizabeth Paul, Aaron Gregory, Abbie Halvorson and Kya Nelson.
Advisor was Melissa Nicolas.
The 2017 prom committee send their thanks to the Clear Lake Lions, Potter Trucking and Marvel Nutrition for donating to the 2019 fund.
