The Clear Lake City Council met Monday evening, August 3rd and approved a number of items on the agenda.
The Public Works Department was given the go ahead to begin the process of the street sign replacement project. This will eventually replace all city street signage with updated graphics that are larger and have increased visibility.
Council also had further discussions regarding the Paxmar twin home development on Cherry Street, as there continue to be questions about the project, timelines and phases of completion. A new, updated developer’s agreement was discussed and the city will continue to move forward with the planning as the project progresses.
A partial payment of $17,575 was approved for the Well #3 project, as the hope is still to have the new water source online before winter.
City staff has been working with the vendor to prepare the annual insurance renewal. Coverage, limits and premiums been reviewed and council moved forward with approval of the recommended insurance renewal.
Mayor Tim Goenner brought forward discussion regarding Main Ave. and the landscaping and look of the city’s main thoroughfare. Ultimately, Clerk Kari Mechtel was directed to draft a letter and send to residents along this street regarding the importance of maintaining the boulevard in terms of mowing and weed control.
The council will meet next on September 8th at 7 p.m. The date is a change from a normal Monday meeting because of Labor Day.
