New Food Shelf set to be built by Twp. Hall

Becker Twp. held their monthly board meeting, July 21. They discussed multiple topics including Food Shelf and canine regulation.

Food Shelf

News is that there will be a new food shelf built behind township hall and the board agreed to allow the Becker Food Shelf to share driveways in order for delivery trucks to reach them.

Road Report

The board talked of finishing 175th Street. An exception was brought forward with the hope of avoiding widening the road. The goal is to not get into the wetland impact by taking out a bunch of trees.

It was decided that a survey must be done along with a soil test on the road.

With all the rainstorms this year it has made it more difficult to keep up with grading roads, but it was noted they are getting done. Mowing and filling in pot holes is getting done as well.

Canine Regulation

Next on the agenda was the regulation of canines. It was stated that a dangerous dog may be seized if it poses a threat to others. The town does require licensing for commercial kennels and that is done under zoning. The board was also in agreement that invisible fencing does count as fencing.

Joint Planning

The joint planning board discussed a recommendation of adoption for some ordinance amendments related to special events and special event venues.

Engineer’s Report

The Engineers Report stated that they are planning on starting some road projects this week. The only concern was the deadline which might not be met before school starts this year. More to come on this subject at a later time.

Financials

Payments were also made for past projects including 137th Street southeast, Eagles Landing, and Bridgeview.

Fire Department

The fire chiefs report consisted of 329 total calls for service in 2024. They also did approve disposing of their former rescue truck because they purchased and put into service a newer one.

Other News

There was a motion to approve resolution 202516, authorizing execution of the development agreement with the developer for his Hitsstone Creek view. The motion passed.

The treasure’s report was also approved.
