New Amphitheater Opens to Public at Wildlife Festival

The Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge celebrated its 29th annual Wildlife Festival took place last Saturday, September 28.

This Wildlife Festival was special because it included the ribbon-cutting ceremony to the new amphitheater by the Oak Savanna Learning Center. The amphitheater will provide an excellent outdoor lecture space for students on field trips, and can also serve as a stage for any performances scheduled in the future.

The amphitheater features art from Native American artists Holly Young (Dakota) and Giizh Agaton Howes (Ojibwe) etched into the concrete. The amphitheater also serves as the start point for several hiking trails.

The festival also included informational booths, activities, and food trucks to entertain the attendees.
