Day 15
Mike Garland has paddled over 140 miles in two weeks and early this week, he crossed under the Sartell dam and visited with friends and followers as he continues his trek to the south.
Mike had the opportunity to speak at the Morrison County Relay for Life at the Little Falls fairgrounds last Friday where he shared his goal and what he has been doing over the years to help the fight against cancer.
Mike has had to deal with bugs, especially the horseflies that buzz his head while he paddles. He has also encountered dead zones for his phone, so he has struggled at times to share his day-to-day accomplishments.
On the Sherburne County Relay for Life website, Mike and his family and followers have an ongoing live auction that runs through Aug. 6, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
“We can beat this disease if we raise enough money for research,” Mike said.
