Middle School Year Ends With Talent Show

Students and staff at Becker Middle School ended the school year with their annual talent show in the BHS gymnasium last Friday morning, with acts that included traditional musicians, singers and dancers, plus student-produced videos, a science demonstration and a song and video in American Sign Language.

A total of 26 acts took the state during the performance, with Principal Nancy Helmer and event organizer and Middle School English Teacher Sandy Hayes joining in the all-cast song-and-dance finale.  Among the videos featured were four “book trailers” produced by eight-grade students, as well as 7th grade public service videos on “Asian carp invasion”, “Pandas” and “Mass Extinction”.

An artwork video of a book by student Laura Pearce was a new feature of the show this year, Hayes said, as the program seeks to showcase a wider variety of student talents each year.
