LPI pledges $22,500 to BEE’s Inclusive Playground Project

Becker Public Schools is delighted to announce a generous donation of $22,500 from Liberty Paper, a Liberty Diversified International company, towards the construction of a new preschool playground area, including an inclusive space for children of all abilities. This donation propels the project forward, bringing the community closer to our goal of creating a safe and stimulating outdoor environment for the district’s youngest learners. Liberty Paper is also willing to participate in a build day to help with the installation of the playground which will save thousands of dollars for the project.

Becker Early Education, a vital educational institution supporting children from birth to preschool, has expanded significantly since its inception in the 1980s. Currently serving over 375 children annually, the staff and children eagerly anticipate the completion of its new Early Education Center for the 2024-25 school year. This center will cater to Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), School Readiness, and Camp Opportunity Child Care.

Despite this exciting development, the pressing need for a new playground remains. The inclusive playground is crucial for fostering a sense of community, providing a dedicated space for Early Childhood, Camp Opportunity, Becker Primary School grades K-2, and the broader community during evenings, weekends, and summertime.

Liberty Paper, located in Becker, has stepped forward as a community partner in this venture. With a rich history spanning 105 years, LDI has consistently demonstrated innovation and success in their four core markets: Paper, Packaging, Plastics, and Workspaces. Their commitment to excellence and children, aligns seamlessly with the goals of Becker Early Education, making them an invaluable contributor to the playground project.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $216,000, and Becker Early Education has successfully fundraised enough to kickstart Phase 1. Local organizations, including the Becker Lions and Clear Lake Lions, have played a significant role in reaching this milestone, contributing towards creating a space where children of all abilities can play, learn, and grow together.

To further support this initiative, Becker Early Education encourages additional donations. Individuals or businesses interested in contributing financially or providing in-kind services can contact the following:

Additionally, thank you to the Becker Lions and Clear Lake Lions for their support. Together, we are building a playground that reflects our commitment to inclusivity, learning, and community engagement.
