Thirty-nine sixth graders at Becker Middle School were treated to a fun field trip last Friday to Liberty Paper International.
In March and April, sixth graders were challenged to read environmentally-themed books, and some students chose to write essays about what they learned from that reading and enter them into a contest, judged by staff at LPI.
While visiting Liberty Paper, students were treated to a lunch from Godfathers Pizza and a tour of the facility.
Second place essays were written by Wren Williams and Gabriella Dumonceaux, and the first place essay was written by John Nielsen.
Students were awarded $25 and $50 gift cards for their efforts.
This is the 10th year LPI has partnered with BMS to promote the Environmental Book Challenge for sixth graders.
