Becker Pizza Depot owners have always been proud supporters of veterans. This year, the owners wanted to honor local veterans with homemade lap tie blankets. At first, their goal was to make and donate approximately 75-100 blankets. Other local companies caught wind of what Pizza Depot was planning and the project took off.
With the help of local volunteers, over 300 blankets were made. Approximately $900 was also donated for supplies needed to help veterans. One hundred of the blankets were donated to the St. Cloud VA on Friday, November 8. The remaining 200 blankets, along with the supply donation, will be going to the Eagle’s Nest in Sauk Centre.
Aside from all the business sponsorships that Pizza Depot obtained, they were also blessed with many volunteers and groups to help complete the large task. Boy Scout Pack 92, the Mom’s group, National Honor Society Students, South Santiago Lutheran Church Senior Youth Group, Boys Blue Basketball Team, Becker Senior Center, LPI, as well as a plethora of additional volunteers made this project a huge success.
A special thank you to local businesses that helped in making this project possible: American Legion, Becker Lions, Pizza Depot, Ralph’s Auto Body, LPI, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, Haus Construction, Liberty Tax, Letty B’s, Dan Gohman Painting, Dueling Brews, Sara Waytashek with Edina Realty, T&J Construction, Becker Senior Center, Rock Creek Builders and Summit Mechanical. The business sponsorships helped make the event a huge success.
Pizza Depot co-owner Morgan du’Monceaux shared these sentiments about the event: “This was truly a community-based event and everyone involved should feel proud of their efforts.”
