Helping area residents remember the reason for the season, Becker’s Oakwood Community Church held their ninth annual live drive-through Nativity last weekend, Journey to Bethlehem.
Bringing the story of the Nativity to life, Pastor Gerry Bass and congregant volunteers dressed in period clothing to play the parts of the starring characters, including Mary, Joseph, the shepherds and wise men. Live animals, including sheep and a donkey, added a realistic touch to the scenes.
Held in the parking lot of Becker Furniture World, guests enjoyed pivotal scenes from the Nativity without leaving the comfort of their vehicles. Driving from station to station, congregants in the form of greeters, guards, angels, shepherds, wise men and the holy family regaled visitors with the story of Jesus’ birth over 2,000 years ago.
Guests enjoyed warmth and refreshments in the form of free hot chocolate and popcorn at the end of their Nativity journey.
