League Of Minnesota Cities Holding Breakout Sessions In Becker

City officials from Becker and the surrounding area will gather for an afternoon of breakout sessions presented by the League of Minnesota Cities next Thurs., Oct. 22, at the Becker Community Center.
 
 Program highlights include a presentation and discussion about state transportation policy featuring Commissioner Charles Zelle from the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Commissioner Zelle will present his session from 2:15 to 3 p.m.
 
At  the 1 p.m. meeting start, a skill building session will occur focusing on communication and what it takes to build stronger relationships and achieve ones goals. At 1:45 p.m., a session called, “Let’s Get Advocating: 2015 Legislative Session Recap and What to Expect for 2016” just before Zelle’s session at 2:15 p.m.
 
Following a short break at 3 p.m., city hall security will be discussed with the LMC presenting some tools and services to help evaluate the risk of city hall violence and be proactive in preventing it ahead of time and developing an intruder response plan.
 
At 4 p.m., Dave Unmacht, LMC’s new executive director will share his vision for the League and share thoughts about where LMC should be headed, what issues it needs to address, and what services it might provide to help ones city.
 
The session concludes with a social hour at 5 p.m., a dinner at 5:30 p.m., a welcome from Mayor Lefty Kleis and final remarks from either LMC President Steve Nasby or First Vice President Rhonda Pownell
 
LMC’s president or first vice president will offer an update on organization priorities before the session adjourns at 7 p.m. 
 
As of this week, 45 city officials representing 20 area communities have registered to attend.
