Hyttsten Earns Top Award

David Hyttsten, acclaimed professional photographer from Becker, received one of his highest lifetime achievement awards recently when he earned the top print award at a recent three-state professional photographers’ print competition in Sioux Falls.

The portrat entitled “Narnia” is of Aminta Whittaker Geisler of Becker and her children, Levi and Ty. It was taken north of Becker on a cold January day, reports Hyttsten.

“Friends” and “Aquatic Competitor” were part of high school senior sessions. The combined print scores of all three images earned him the title portrait photographer of the year.

David, a native of Becker, has owned and operated David’s Photography in Monticello since the 1970’s.

Several years ago, he was recognized as a top Becker High School graduate.

He earned the degrees of master photographer and photographic craftsman from Professional Photographers of America.

“I’ve had numerous awards, but the big ones were two Kodak Gallery awards, a Kodak Gallery Elite in 1995 for their highest honor in the nation and now this one, which is sponsored by Lexjet,” he reported.

“What drives me is a pursuit of excellent while telling peoples’ stories through the art of photography,” he said. “I’m just a story teller. I use a camera instead of a pen.”

That he does - very well.
