Hwy. 24 Clearwater To Clear Lake To Be Reduced

Submitted Story

Motorists who travel Hwy. 24 between Clearwater and Clear Lake will encounter overnight delays as segments of the road are temporarily reduced to a single lane overnight beginning Sunday, June 3.

The nightly lane closures on Hwy. 24 will begin after 7 p.m., with all lanes open by 5:30 a.m., up to seven days per week, through June 19.

The temporary lane closures are needed while crews resurface the road.

The resurfacing is part of a larger project that will resurface four miles of Hwy. 24 between 179th Street and Hwy. 10 in Clear Lake; replace sidewalk along Hwy. 24/Main Street through Clear Lake; upgrade signal systems in Clearwater and add flashing yellow arrows; improve pedestrian accessibility through Clear Lake, and at the I-94/Co. Rd. 75 interchange in Clearwater; and install or repair sidewalks and pedestrian crossings in Clear Lake.

When complete in August, the project will result in a smoother ride, extend the life of the roadway and improve traffic flow, safety and accessibility along the Highway 24 corridor through Clearwater and Clear Lake.

Motorists who travel through Clear Lake should also be aware that both directions of Hwy. 10 between Clear Lake and Big Lake will be reduced to a single lane 24 hours per day beginning July 12. The closures are needed as part of a major project to reconstruct eastbound Hwy. 10 between Clear Lake and Big Lake, improve safety the Hwy. 10/Co. Rd. 23 intersection and make other improvements.
