Hugo On Board As Parks Coordinator

Gina Hugo is the new Sherburne County Parks Coordinator.

Tuesday, Public Works Director Andrew Witter introduced Hugo to members of the county board. Hugo spent over 20 years with the Sherburne Soil & Water Conservation District before accepting the position with the county.

“We were fortunate to find a highly qualified person in Gina,” said Witter. “She knows the parks better than I do and probably  better than most people do.”

Hugo said she has a lot of experience with managing natural resources at Sherburne County parks as well a spending countless hours working with private land owners consulting on woodland management,  tree care and prairie restoration.

“With that, I can’t help but bring a conservation perspective as parks coordinator,” she said. “But I’m also a mom and a wife a dog owner. I love to bike and hike and camp and canoe and observe nature, so I’ll also be looking through those lenses as we continue to work on developing the county parks and trails system.”

New Assessor

The appointed Michelle Moen as the Sherburne County Assessor, effective Aug. 29, 2019 at an annual salary of $100,000 and a PTO rate at the five years of service level.

Moen will fill out the balance of the term being vacated by Greg Olson, who is retiring after 14 years. The appointment is contingent upon the approval of the Commissioner of the Minnesota Dept. of Revenue.

Moen’s official first day will be Aug. 15, which will allow for a two-week training overlap with the current county assessor.
