Holiday Events Fast Approaching!

With the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Holidays fast approaching, below we touch on several fun activities and events the BCC is hosting over the next month or so.

Breakfast with Santa

One of the BCC’s most popular holiday event is Breakfast with Santa, which is being held Sat., Dec. 1 from 9-11 a.m.

The event is for the entire family as the Becker Area Lions Club serves up a delicious breakfast in the gymnasium. Cost is $5 per person or $20 for a family of five or more and people are encouraged to bring thier own cameras to snap photos of Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Also that day, the BCC is hosting a Becker PTSA Holiday Shop from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. People are encouraged to shop for Christmas gifts before or after the Breakfast with Santa event with most gifts being sold for under $5.

Also that day, the Becker Library is hosting a Holiday Craft Day from 9-11:30 a.m. for kids aged three to 12. Singer and pianist Andrew Walesch will present a memorable morning of holiday music from the Great American Songbook.

Cooking with Mrs. Claus

A week later, Sat., Dec. 8, Mrs. Claus will be helping all the kids (ages 4-8) of Becker to create their favorite Christmas cookies and treats from 9-10:30 a.m.
Mrs. Claus will also share a secret of how to guide Santa and his sleigh of reindeer to ones house on Christmas Eve night!

This event fills up fast and those interested need to pre-register by Dec. 6. The cost is $10 for members of the BCC and $15 for non-members.

Holiday Challenge

The BCC is offering a new wellness initiative called, “Eat Smart, Move More...Maintain, Don’t Gain” holiday challenge.

From Nov. 12 through Dec. 31, everyone is invited to join the 12th annual challenge where instead of focusing on trying to lose weight, this FREE seven-week program will provide participants with strategies and resources to help maintain ones weight throughout the holiday season.

Participants will receive weekly newsletters, daily tips, challenges, healthy holiday recipes and more.

Last year’s challenge had more than 28,000 people from all 50 states and 92% reported they maintained or lost weight during the challenge.

House Decorating Contest

The Becker City Council, through the Becker Recreation & Leisure Dept., are inviting all Becker residents to get into the holiday decorating spirit!

A decorating contest is open to all residents and businesses and is FREE to enter. Registration is due by Dec. 7 and community voting takes place between Dec. 8 - Dec. 17 at noon. All community members are encouraged to view the parade of decorated houses and vote online at beckercommunitycenter.com or their Facebook page, the City of Becker website or their Facebook page.

A list of participating houses will be posted on the BCC Facebook page and City of Becker website by Dec. 8. Prizes will be awarded for community favorite, best daylight holiday display and best storefront display.
